Islamabad United, Lahore Qalanders' face-off breaks all records at PSL's first night in Karachi

Islamabad United and Lahore Qalander’s face-off on Saturday turned into a historical match as it witnessed trailblazing records getting scored in Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) history.For the first time in the tournament, the highest score was set by the Uniteds for Qalanders to chase, of 238 owing to the remarkable performance by Cameron Delport with a successful partnership of Asif Ali. Delport’s outstanding delivery with the bat also led to a sixers and boundaries galore which helped him setting the record of the fastest hundred in the tournament; while Asif Ali sharing the pitch with him also managed to set a record of joint-highest PSL half-century. With yesterday’s game leaning in the favor of the batting side with a smaller boundary and a flat pitch, a record of 16 sixers in an innings was also set by United which has never been done before in the tournament’s four-year history. The record-breaking match going beyond the realms of PSL also broke the record of the highest ever T20 total that Karachi has ever witnessed. On the other hand, Shaheen Shah Afridi bowling form Lahore Qalanders also witnessed the tournament’s most expensive over having scored 62 runs.Lastly, the match also saw the least amount of double runs in a completed PSL innings, once again by Islamabad United.
