The missing warden

Yesterday, I was on my way near Zainab Market, when a traffic warden stopped me at the signal. I was handed down a challan of Rs170 as my bike’s headlight was not working. He said that he would keep my CNIC until I paid the fine. Without any delay, I went to the nearest traffic police post and paid the fine. When I came back, the traffic sergeant wasn’t there. I waited for him for half an hour, but to no avail. Upon inquiry, someone told me that I would get my CNIC from another post which is situated near PIDC. Without wasting any time, I reached there and found out that the constable had left for home with my original CNIC.I told the traffic wardens that I paid the challan because of my mistake and asked them who would pay me for his irresponsibility. The relevant authorities must look into the matter and try to bring tangible improvements in the traffic police department.Khalid FaruqiKarachi
