Special Olympic World Summer Games: Pakistan bags three gold medals on Day Three

KARACHI: Pakistan’s special athletes shone on Sunday by winning three gold and as many bronze medals in the Special Olympic World Summer Games being held in Abu Dhabi.According to the results of Day Three, Hur Mushtaq won gold medal with the timing of 00:05:39.02 in 1500 metres. In shot put, Farzana Rehmat clinched gold medal with the result of 4.96 metres, while Zohaib Ishfaq won bronze medal with the throw of 6.87 metres. Shumaila Rubab also won bronze with the result of 4.97 metres. Nauman Riaz finished fourth with the result of 7.79 metres.In cycling, Mohammad Imran Ghaffar captured gold medal in 5k time-trial category with the timing of 00:09:55.00. In basketball mixed team category (male), Pakistan finished fifth after losing 23-28 to Azerbaijan.In women's team category, Pakistan finished fourth after losing all three matches. In bocce, Hina Arif defeated Hafshah Nabila of Indonesia 8-3 in singles category but lost to Paulin St Luce of St Lucia 4-6.Similarly, Nimra Tariq lost 1-12 to Sara Ahmed of Saudi Arabia in singles medal-round match. In the male's category of bocce event, Mohammad Anas and Mohammad Faraz Shah both finished fourth.In futsal women's team competition, Pakistan lost 1-3 to India. Pakistan failed to win a single match in the category. In mixed team competition, Pakistan finished fourth after losing two matches and playing one draw.In swimming, Mohammad Muneeb Siddique finished seventh with the timing of 00:00:47.31 in 50m breaststroke category. At the conclusion of the day, Pakistan had won six gold, 10 silver, and six bronze medals in total in the competition in which country's 92 athletes are participating in 10 sports.
