Rabada targets personal improvement in ODIs

JOHANNESBURG: Having reached the three-figure milestone for wickets in ODIs, South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has more improvements in his sights ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019.The 23-year-old star took 3-43 in the most recent ODI against Sri Lanka to take him to 101 scalps in the format, and despite achieving this feat in just 64 matches, while boasting an average of 26.80, he still believes he must “find a way to get wickets in one-day cricket”.“There always is (room for improvement),” said the No 3 ranked Test bowler.“Because this game always finds a way to humble you. My personal desire is to keep exploring. I am an exploring kind of guy.“The one area I would like to improve on in is my one-day (game). I just need to find a way to get wickets in one-day cricket.”Rabada has been consistent with the ball in 2018 and the start of 2019, and his assessment of his own form is indicative of his meteoric standards. He has averaged 23.28 across all three formats since South Africa’s home campaign against Zimbabwe in September, yet feels like he hasn’t quite found his stride until now.“I’ve felt that I’ve been struggling since Zimbabwe, and I have been finding it hard. I was finding that I wasn’t really clicking,” he said. “Although I was still getting wickets, it’s not the best that I’ve felt.”
