PFA seals three restaurants on motorway

LAHORE: On the directions of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Sunday launched a drive to check food points on motorway and highways.Food safety teams under the supervision of PFA Director General Captain (Retd) Muhammad Usman visited several service areas and sealed three restaurants and fined a food business operator.PFA enforcement teams examined kitchen, warehouse and storage area of hotels, restaurants, snack bars, tuck shops, cafes and marts in a daylong operation. The purpose for the inspection was to examine food quality, hygienic condition and ensure food safety standards.Muhammad Usman said Fri Chicks (fast food restaurant) was sealed over substandard meat and insects. The team found the meat storage system poor. PFA sealed a famous Broast chicken restaurant over expired cooking oil. The DG said PFA sealed Meezab Hotel on Motorway (M2) at Sukheki service area for not complying with the authority instructions. Moreover, Palm Inn Restaurant was fined Rs 25,000 over oil issue.
