PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) has said that the actual cost of the 27.4 kilometres long Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor is Rs66.4 billion.As per the document received by The News, the PDA dispelled the “speculations” of Rs100 billion cost on the BRT project as baseless.It said that as per the additional work and restructuring in the project, the total cost had reached to Rs66.4 billion from the actual cost of Rs49.374 billion.An official of the PDA said that unconfirmed and baseless news items were circulating on the social media and in the mainstream media that the BRT project cost had reached Rs100 billion.As per the summary of the revised project cost, the original allocated cost of Rs21,023 million was allocated for the BRT corridor and it increased to Rs28,149 million due to due to the construction of various additional flyovers including Tehkal Flyover, Karkhano Flyover, Gulbahar station and redesigning of the Amn Chowk. Similarly, the original cost of façade to façade improvement was Rs8091 million and it increased to Rs10,947 million, original cost for Fleet and ITS was Rs9,213 million and the revised cost was Rs11,493 million, original cost for building packages was Rs3,778 million and revised cost is Rs9,333 million, original cost for Land and Utilities was Rs3893 million and revised cost is Rs3,120 million and Bike sharing cost is Rs132 million.Likewise, it said the original cost allocated for KPUMA and TransPeshawar was Rs1553 million and the revised cost was Rs600 million, which was reduced to 61 percent, the original cost allocated for supervision and others was Rs493 and the revised cost is Rs1356 million, original cost allocated for fleet was Rs1,000 million and the revised cost is Rs1052 million, the original cost allocated for feeder routes was Rs95 million and revised cost was Rs310 million and the original allocated cost for Environment Mitigation Measures was Rs68 million.As per the data, the 27.4 kilometres long BRT corridor is 13 kilometres elevated, 11 kilometres on the ground and three kilometres was covered by underpasses. There are 31 stations in the BRT project.A spokesman for the PDA also stated that the contract of the BRT had been given to a group of companies called Joint Venture (JV), under the terms and condition and guidelines of the Asian Development Bank.
