Open manhole at Katcherry Chowk

Rawalpindi : The motorists particularly at night are facing life risk due to an open manhole at main Katcherry Chowk but concerned civic authority failed to cover it for over a week.On duty, traffic inspector Jalil Ahmed said that this uncovered manhole is creating difficulties for motorists particularly at night. A lifter is stand by here to pull motors stuck up in this open manhole, he said. He said that manhole was uncovered for some days but nobody came here to cover it.Open manholes in several points in city and cantonment board localities are causing serious problems not only for motorists but pedestrians as well.It is worth mentioning here that three manholes are uncovered at Jhelum Road from Soan Camp to Katcherry Chowk, which are life risk for motorists. These open manholes also cause any mishap.The Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) Secretary Rana Amanullah Khan said that we immediately cover all open manholes to avoid any incident. But, some of habitual thieves and addicted people sell the cover of manholes in cheaper prices. We have also arrested some of thieves to send them to jail, he claimed. He has assured to cover uncovered manholes on priority.
