MANSEHRA: District Nazim Sardar Said Ghulam on Sunday said that the district administration had begun legal formalities to acquire land for graveyards at four selected places in the city.“We are well aware of the shortage of space for burial at existing graveyards in the city and this is why we have selected four spacious pieces of land to be acquired for the graveyards from the fund allocated by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif,” he told reporters here. He said the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif had granted an amount of Rs200 million for the acquisition of land for the graveyards in the city.“The district administration has imposed section-4 of the Land Acquisition Act banning sale and purchase of specified pieces of land and soon payment would be made to landowners,” said the nazim.The nazim, who is affiliated with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, said he was ready to face any no-confidence motion by rival PTI members. “I want to make it clear that PPP, JUI-F and JI are supporting me and would thwart no-confidence motion if moved by the so-called opposition in the district council,” said the nazim. He said that the district government had executed over 3000 schemes during the last three years and would complete the term.Sardar Said Ghulam said it was happening for the first time that his district government earmarked Rs200 million to enhance the performance of devolved public sectors departments and same would also be followed in the next financial year.
