KARACHI: A total of 107 outfits from all over the country will be featuring in the 20th National Seniors Cup Cricket Tournament 2018-19 which has got under way in both the zones of the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA).There were 103 teams in the last season, which was won by Rashid Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA) of southern zone.Karachi Shafqat Swaleha outwitted Karachi Gold Bridge Media by five wickets in the opening match of the southern zone here at the TMC Ground the other day.Batting first after winning the toss, Karachi Gold Bridge Media totaled 197 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 25 overs. Karachi Shafqat Swaleha raced to the target of 198 in 22.5 overs with five wickets in hand.Opener Kamran Hussain top-scored for Karachi Gold Bridge Media, smashing a couple of sixes and a dozen boundaries in his 97 off 63 balls.Karachi Shafqat Swaleha pulled it back through medium-pacer Tariq Haroon (3-42), left-arm spinner Muhammad Ali (2-17) and leg-spinner Mansoor Khan (2-35). Sagheer Abbas hit an unbeaten 24 off 18 balls.Karachi Shafqat Swaleha remained ahead of the clock from the outset with opener Tariq Murad (44 off 37 balls) providing solid support to the rampaging Haris Ayaz, who clobbered two sixes and four fours in his unbeaten 73 off 54 balls.
