LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed has said that construction of low-cost housing units will be started by the next month in Lahore and Faisalabad under the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme.In this regard, Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) should also complete the process of acquiring land in other cities of the province on priority basis. He stated this while presiding over a meeting of PHATA Board, here Tuesday.Director General Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency Liaqat Ali Chattha and other board members attended the meeting. Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed said that Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme would also be started in Sialkot and Chiniot from the next month.In order to ensure the participation of private sector in this scheme, relevant by-laws are being amended, the minister added. He directed PHATA to expedite the process of acquiring land from Liquidation Board for the housing project. Moreover, matters should also be settled with Faisalabad Development Authority for acquiring 600-kanal land in Faisalabad.Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency DG Liaqat Ali Chattha briefed the meeting about the progress of Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme at Chishtian, Renala Khurd and Lodhran. He briefed about the housing projects of PHATA in Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Toba Tek Singh, Muridke, Jhelum, Pattoki, Rahimyar Khan, Minchinabad and Jhang.synopses: A meeting of Punjab University Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS&RB) was held here Tuesday which approved 39 PhD synopses and 25 evaluation reports. According to the details, the meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Akhtar also approved 16 panels of examiners, 11 extension cases and eight miscellaneous cases.
