Inter-Board sports gala ends in controversy

ISLAMABAD: The controversial Inter-Board men’s sports gala concluded here on Tuesday with tug of war finalists Malakand Board players smashing boards and tearing away certificates as organisers’ failure to hold the final in non-controversial way.“We would not participate, we would not accept the results,” Malakand players were seen agitating against the organisers.Following total rumpus at the Bunda Hockey Ground, Malakand were finally awarded the tug of war trophy. Bannu won hockey gold with Larkana and Peshawar taking second and third position respectively.Bannu also scooped up volleyball gold with Peshawar taking second and Mardan finishing up third. Sahiwal Board took athletics honours. Larkana was runner up with Peshawar taking bronze. Brig (rtd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar was guest of honour at hockey competition and distributed prizes and medals amongst position-holders.
