LAHORE : A two-day workshop on “Basic tools in Bioinformatics” organised by the Government College University (GCU) Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (IIB) began here Thursday.University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the inaugural session of the workshop which was also addressed by Dean Prof Dr Riaz Ahmad and resource persons Dr Khurshid Ayub and Dr Umer Rashid.Speaking on the occasion, Prof Talat Pasha highlighted the importance of new disciplines and technologies, saying that, in the current age, science could not progress without this multi and interdisciplinary approach.GCU IIB Director Prof Dr Hamid Mukhtar said this was the second workshop on Bioinformatics at GCU.“The first one was held in November, 2017 and we received an overwhelming response from the participants so we decided to hold another workshop on the same topic with a major theme of Molecular Modeling,” he concluded.
