Islamabad : While hosting a short music workshop for schoolchildren on the embassy's premises, Argentine Ambassador Ivan Ivanissevich advocated peace and said music could help bring countries closer.The ambassador told participants that the Indo-Pak border tensions were an unfortunate turn of events but he strongly felt that peace would return to the region. "The best way to bring peace back is to sing together," he said. The ambassador said music had a universal language, which everyone understood and loved."Music promotes peace, understanding, and happiness, so we all should strive to keep it alive," he said. The workshop was conducted by French-Argentine musician and teacher Magdalena Ivanissevich, the ambassador`s sister.NGO Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Children, Master Ayub's Park School, Islamabad Model School for Girls, National College of Arts Rawalpindi and Rung School of Music and Arts brought students to the event.While conducting the workshop, Magdalena played a percussion instrument and sang songs. The Argentine-French duo performed two Venezuelan traditional songs titled Green Bird and Sons of the Milker and played Argentine tango music titled the Corn Cob. Guitarist Carlos played the Astronaut from Brazil and Malambo from Argentina.The duo ended the performance with Lullaby to a Little Black Boy from Colombia and Venezuela. Local musician Richie also performed, while a schoolchild played guitar. Schoolteacher Master Ayub said music comforted people in distress besides giving them strength to face challenging times.The students appreciated the event, saying it was fun to be there. They said the artists performed really well to their enjoyment. The students wanted the embassy to arrange more such events in future.
