ABBOTTABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani has assured the management of INOR Cancer Hospital for provision of adequate funds for the patients.He said that provision of health facilities was the top priority of the government. The speaker attended a briefing arranged by the hospital administration and INOR Patient Welfare Society here. The briefing was also attended by renowned social workers Wahid Siraj Mir, Shahid Qadir, Tanveer Afzal, Tariq Jadoon and others.Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani promised to arrange Rs130 million funds for the hospital. He added that KP government was working for the uplift of the hitherto neglected areas. Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani said the shortage of funds would never be a hindrance to provide health facilities at the doorstep to the patients. He said that health cards would soon be made available to every citizen of the country. Earlier, Director INOR Hospital Abbottabad, Dr Musab Riaz, briefed the KP Assembly speaker about the hospital working.He said that the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission was catering to needs of the hospital and it had sanctioned Rs473 million for the installations of the latest and most modern machinery. The director said that besides screening, other facilities would also be provided to the patients from Hazara and Gilgit-Baltistan. He said apart from the diagnostics services, full-fledged indoor facilities were being provided to the patients and inflow of OPD and indoor had increased manifold.The director said the patients from Hazara, who earlier used to go to Rawalpindi and Lahore for treatment, were now treated in Abbottabad. Major (r) Amanullah Khan, president of the INOR Patients Welfare Society, said that the society was helping out the poor and needy patients to get costly medicines of cancer at discounted rates.He said that in many cases, free medicines were also provided to the patients. Amanullah Khan said that the society had joined hands with the hospital to run it with the help of philanthropists from the entire Hazara division who are providing financial help to the society.
