One of South Asia’s premier cultural events, the Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) is all set to return to Asia Society New York for the fourth iteration of the festival in New York on Saturday, May 4, 2019.According to the LLF’s official Facebook handle, the 4th edition of the literary festival in New York aims to explore contemporary Pakistan, through artists, writers, and commentators. The festival will present American audience with a more nuanced view of Pakistan, with discussions on fiction and non-fiction writing, art, architecture, history and politics.This year, the day-long festival will feature seven different segments that include a number of speakers such as artist, activist and author Salima Hashmi; author of Pureland, Zarrar Said, and author and contributing editor Newsweek Pakistan Khaled Ahmed among others. Apart from them, the lineup includes actress, food and travel writer Madhur Jaffrey; United States ambassador to Pakistan, (2012- 2015) Richard G. Olson and many others.The Lahore Literary Festival that is scheduled to take place at Asia Society, New York from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. will also feature an evening of poetry and music, ‘An Evening with Zia Mohyeddin’, which has become an annual fixture that has delighted audiences in Lahore for the last 34 years. Pakistan’s renowned orator and actor, Zia Mohyeddin, will present recitations of poetry from Ghalib, Iqbal and Faiz. A flute performance by Haider Rahman will precede the performance by Zia Mohyeddin.
