Changing trends

HAPPENINGSRecently, the department of Media Studies of Bahria University Karachi Campus (BUKC) organized a seminar on “The Digital Transformation of Marketing”. The objective of the event was to bring together experts of digital marketing, influencers, CEOs and leading individuals from the advertising industry.The event consisted of two speaker sessions and a panel discussion. The first session was led by Fawad Saleem, CEO of Digital Tribe. He spoke about the current trends, challenges and the elements of digital marketing. The session was highly motivating for the students who received the first-hand knowledge of using the digital medium for their campaigns and also learnt the tricks of the trade. Saleem also focused on how important content creation is for the digital marketers. The second session was conducted by Zackaryaa Mohiuddin, Head of PR and Marketing at Ramada Hotels. He talked about the current decade of advertising, the techniques a digital marketer needs to posses and how the world is rapidly adapting to all these changes. He also emphasized the importance of content engagement, the effective use of creative content in running campaigns, and how different brands are collaborating with gigantic influencers. He also shared the important aspects of marketing for the digital medium. The news and its reach has changed dramatically, too, because of the digital mediums that are being used. The event also featured a panel discussion on “Digital Marketing: Refresh. Update. Transform”. It was moderated by a final year media studies student with majors in PR and Advertising. The panel focused on various digital marketing tools and how they are changing everything; the role of content creation, reaching the right audience, how important it is to engage the audience with the content, and the effective marketing strategies, etc. Lucas Peter, Director Marketing at Jang Media Group; Fawad Saleem, CEO-Digital Tribe, and Hasan Reyaz Khan, CEO at ECHO Digital, were the panelist for the penal discussion. They led the session very creatively and shared their knowledge with the young, enthusiastic and future digital marketers. To acknowledge the efforts and presence of each speaker and panelist, the Director General Rear Admiral (Retd) Mukhtar Khan HI (M) of BUKC presented souvenirs to all the guest and shared his precious words in the closing ceremony. All the panelist and speakers appreciated the efforts of the final year students for organizing such a tremendous and informative seminar. Department of Media Studies in BUKC aims to organize, such instructive sessions in the future as well because as an educational institute BUKC believes that it is essential to connect young minds with industry’s professionals. Digital marketing has entered the mainstream and is exhibiting a continuous change in trends of advertising. The students of business management, entrepreneurs and media graduates should always aim to reach higher and should posses command over digital marketing strategies.
