Najma returns to Olympics contingent thanks to timely efforts by POA ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has succeeded in reinstating Najma Parveen’s Universality Place Quota for Tokyo Olympics as the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has communicated to the concerned authorities in Pakistan Thursday that the request has been accepted after going through the facts shared by the National Olympic Committee (NOC). The POA in its handout said that the Universality Place Quota of Najma Parveen was declined by the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) in June 2021 without any consultation with or any intimation to any stakeholders. However, after putting in all the efforts and hard work the POA official says that the NOC has succeeded in getting back Najma’s right. “The POA is directly responsible for the finalisation and dispatch of the national contingent. The withdrawal of Najma’s name by the AFP has created a misunderstanding that the POA has withdrawn her quota which is far from the truth. On discovering that Najma’s name had been dropped by the AFP for no cogent reason and without any intimation to the POA, the NOC immediately took up the matter with the concerned authorities to review their decision.
